Congratulations to Peter Lacey in winning the Veterans Welsh Merit which was held at Criccieth Bowling Club.

HITS OF THE WEEK:

Two new entries this week and what entries:

The Wrexham Pairs' Team had a towering home result against Llay, beating them 6-2. This was only Llay's second defeat in the Pairs' League this season and the first time the Cunliffe have beaten Llay in the Pairs' League.

"Oh what a night" for the Welsh Counties Team. A thundering 9-1 home win against Rhos Park, the league leaders, who have only lost one game all season. Good support, an outstanding team effort under pressure. All this following the fine 10-0 win at home against
Llanfairpwllgwyngyll-gogerychwyrndrobwll-llantysiliogogogoch Village,
and the fantastic 7-3 away win at Min-y-Don. This certainly keeps the team in with a chance of being part of the restructured Welsh Counties' League next season. Now all down to the last game of the season.

The Wrexham B team won 8-6 away at Castell Alun. Is this a first? Answers on a postcard to....... .

The Flintshire B team had a crucial 11-1 home win against Pentre Broughton and have an even more crucial home game this Wednesday, the 20th, when any support would be much appreciated.

League and County Notices

The main issue on the agenda of The Welsh Counties Annual General Meeting held at Trefnant was the proposal to change the League back to 1 Division from the present 2 divisions for the 2009 season.

After much discussion the Proposal was passed to change the League to 1 division of 12 teams with the implementation being the 2009 season, with the league being made up of the 8 teams who are in the 1 st division for the 2008 season and the remaining places taken from the top 4 of the final table from division 2 of the 2008 season.

Mike Riley (Bailey Hill) won the Welsh Merit for the second time beating Francis Penlington 21 13 in the final.
